Hello Sir I am 32 year Male from Bangalore. I had a sexual exposure with a sex worker in Australia on 26-Oct-2013. Though I did not have any intercourse or oral sex, but I kissed and rubbed my lips against the girls vagina (it was wet) without licking or opening my mouth. Later when I read in the internet I saw that lips is a mucous membrane and there is possibility of getting HIV through minute cracks in the lips. After coming back to India, I am very tensed about this whole incident. I did HIV ELISA tests at 75, 90 & 108 days of exposure. All came negative. But in spite of these tests I feel that I am seeing some symptoms after 3 months of exposure. Since 3 - 4 weeks I am having a slight throat irritation (without fever or cough) and occasional small red rashes appearing on my back, hand, thighs that itch and go away in a few hours or days. I went to a VD specialist and told him the incident. He said that the rashes are urticaria and created by stress. Since I was tensed, I requested him to advice a more sophisticated test than ELISA. Based on his advice I did HIV Viral Load Test by Real Time PCR (Rotor Gene - 3000) after 4 months of exposure. The result of the test came 0 copies (negative). I am still tensed because of my throat irritation and occasional rashes and would seek your advice whether I need additional tests until 6 months are passed. I saw in the internet that only those people who have weak immune system due to AIDS, cancer etc. take more than 3 months to get detected in blood test. A normal person would be conclusive at 3 months post exposure?
