Typhoid Fever With Jaundice, Had Cold, Anti Typhoid Vaccination Taken. Widal Test Done. Anything To Worry?

hi doctor my name is kiran, had typhoid fever with jaundice last year September it's cured,in march 2nd week i took anti typhoid vaccination,and now from last 4 days i got cold i gone through the Widal test the result is 1:80 dilution positive, and now i got small doubt is it normal dilution or positive?....because i took vaccination in march,what is normal dilution..do i take madication for this?

Hi thanks for the query. Widal 1:80 is considered normal dilution only and it has high false positive rate. So dont go by numbers and Only if it is more than 1:160 and titres are rising and clinically correlating it should be considered as positive. Anyway you took vaccine which has good efficacy so relax as it will protect you from typhoid bacteria for three years and repeat vaccine three yearly. Most important it spreads through contaminated water and food so good hygiene practices is must to prevent it.

its a completely normal dilution..no need to worry complete your vaccination and get revaccinated after 3 yrs.
