Triglycerides Levels High, Advised Medication. Is It Life Long And Risky ?

Hi, My husband had done lipid profile test. In this Triglycerides levels are 498 range i.e above the minimal values. Doctor gave some medication to my husband. But we have some fear about this problem and also said that you will take medicine life long. Is that problem is that much risky and it is true for taking treatment life long. Is there is no permanent cure for this?

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Full 14-hour fast is a must for proper testing and interpretation of Triglyceride...Did he do?
Some conditions like Diabetes and Hypothyroidism may be responsible...

High triglyceride is one of the risk factors for Coronary Heart Disease / may cause pancreatitis and so on / treatment avoids the risk.
Heredity has a major rule - no cure! no choice!
Life style modification - diet and exercise - help in mild to moderate elevation
Continued follow up is essential.

For a long life, management must be life long.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
