Transvaginal USG Shows Retroverted Uterus, Myoma Nodule, Polycystic Left Ovary. Meaning?
I had Transvaginal recently. It says: UTERUS 4.5x4.1x3.6cm retroverted M1; Posterior intramural with subserous component myoma nodule meas. 1.8x1.0cm Endometrium .47cm thin intact right ovary 2.9x1.6x2.1cm left ovary 2.4x1.6x1.8cm cervix 2.2x1.8x1.9cm Impression Normal sized retroverted uterus with thin intact endometrium Myoma nodule as described normal right ovary polycystic left ovary. What does it mean?

The interpretation of the ultrasound report of the pelvis is as follows:
The normal position of the uterus is anteverted.
However, the in some healthy women the position may be that of retroversion so there is nothing to worry.
The endometrium is the lining of the uterine cavity.
It undergoes cyclic thickening and shedding depending on the phase of menstruation.
The thickness of the endometrium is within normal limits. Thickness may be produced in cases of hyperplasia or growth.
There is fibroid in the posterior wall of the uterine cavity.
Fibroid is a bengn growth of the muscle layer of the uterus.
It is asymptomatic in most of the cases.
Sometimes it may produce symptoms like heavy bleeding, dysmenorrhea, etc.
When the symptoms are very sever, surgical removal of the fibroid may be required.
Right ovary is within normal limits.
Left ovary is also normal in size. There are multiple follicles in the left ovary. in normal ovarian cycle, multiple follicles develop and one of them matures to form the dominant follicle.
The cervix is also normal in size.
To summarize, there is a fibroid in the posterior wall and the position of the fibroid is slightly retroverted.
