Tore Tendon In Wrist, Pinched Ulnar Nerve, Had Surgery. On Pain Medication. History Of Coming Clean From Addiction To Hydrocodone. Possible WD Symptoms Again?

Hi, I have had problems in the past with physical addiction to hydrocodone. I had a herniated disk and was on about 750m hydrocodone a day. I had been clean for 2 years. Recently I tore a tendon in my wrist , pinched ulnar nerve, and my outer most carpal bone was tearing away from my hand due to an injury. I have been on pain meds for about 5 weeks (about 4 to 5 vicodine 7.5's a day). I had surgery to correct this 3 weeks ago. My question is will I have withdrawal symptoms again when I try to go off of my pain meds? I have managed to hold off for up to 18 hours and then the pain just gets to bad and I end up taking them. Other than worry (which is a natural personality trait for me) I have had no other WD symptoms.

Dear patient,

There would be a possibilty of withdrawal but if you self-titrate off the medications this becomes less of an issue, trying to use as little medication as possible, and eventually try non-narcotic pain medications and other non medication based therapies.

Yours truly,
