Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
Acne is a common problem of sebaceous glands (oil producing glands) which virtually affects all teenagers some or the other time as this is the age group for major changes in your hormonal profile which directly controls oil secretion from your skin.
For start, you start taking oral antibiotics(
Azithromycin) and topical medications containing
clindamycin and combination of
benzoyl peroxide and adapalene as advised for your
dermatologist. Apart from these, to reduce pigmentation you should add a cream containing either or combination of
Kojic acid, arbutin, vit C, Azelaic acid and always use broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) before going out in sun.
Use a facewash containing glycolic acid/salicyclic acid twice/thrice a day.
Drink plenty of water and and have balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Avoid junk food and beverages as far as possible.
Lastly avoid picking your pimples as it would lead to pigmentation and scarring.
Hope your query is resolved and wish you best of health.
Thank you,
Dr Hardik Pitroda
