Swollen Tonsils, One Having More White Bumps Than Other, Difficulty Swallowing. History Of Strep With Mono. Recurred Strep?

I am having trouble swallowing. I believe my tonsils are swollen and one seems to have more white streaks/bumps than the other. It randomly happened one day and it's been a full 24 hours since. The pain isn't bad, it's tolerable. I've also had strep about 4-5 times, last time being 2009 accompanied by mono. Could this be strep again?

hello user,
The white streaks are mostly collection of pus above tonsils and definitely its tonsillitis.
The type of bacteria varies from season to season and immunity of the individual, some throat swab culture will let you know if its strep, or staphylo or any other bacteria.

I would rather advise you to take some anti inflammatory drugs to reduce swelling and a broad spectrum antibiotic to kill the infection.

Hope this information helped you. Let me know if you need any more clarifications.
