What Causes A Painful White Streak Behind The Throat?
Question: I HAVE A SORE THROAT. I LOOKED AT IT AND THERE IS A WHITE STREAK TOWARDS THE BACK OF MY THROAT ABOUT 1 AND 1/2 INCHES TOWARDS THE BACK OF MY THROAT AND 1 CENTIMETER WIDE. THIS WHITE STREAK IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE PAIN, I CAN FEEL IT. I'VE HAD A STREP TEST THAT INDICATED NEGATIVE. I'VE HAD THE PAIN OVER A MONTH, IT DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO GO AWAY. EATING SOMETIMES MAKES IT WORSE WHILE DRINKING NORMALLY MAKES IT A LITTLE BETTER.

I understand your concern
Most common cause of white streak in the throat is streptococcal pharyngitis.
Some time strep test give negative result and its not sensitive test.
I would suggest to undergo throat swab test,
Nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT): NAAT is accurate test.
In meanwhile take following advises:
Tablet ibuprufen, acetaminophen after food with ranitidine.
Gargling with viscous lidocaine.
Drink lukewarm water, avoid cold beverages and steam inhalation.
Avoid to go in the cold and congested area.
Proper rest.
Antibiotic should given according to culture report under the advice of treating doctor.
