Swollen Lymph Node On Neck, Frequent Headaches. Solid Mass Seen In Ultrasound. Referred For MRI. Advice?

My neurologist felt a swollen lymph node in my neck (right) which I had a ultrasound done on. He said he was a hard, firm, solid mass which the ultrasound confirmed. He also found an additional one under my armpit (right). While I've always had headaches, they have gotten much worse in the past few months. He gave me a referral for an MRI for a brain tumor/neck. What else can you tell me?

Hi dear

Welcome to the board of Health care magic

Detailed History is missing from your query, like any fever its duration, any pain, for how long lymph nodes are swollen, any history of cough, any weight loss. headaches, vomiting etc. They would have given more scope for better explanation.

By your description I can make out that the cervical lymphnode is enlarged and along with this axillary lymphnode is also enlarged.

Causes for such type of LN enlargement many be many.such as Tubercular lymphadinitis, any abnormal growth etc

Some relevant investigations apart from MRI also to be done like CBC, Pereferal Blood smear. ESR, CXR, FNAC of the lymphnode.

FNAC of the lymphnode may prove the diagnostic.

Hope your query is answered

Thanks
