Swollen Legs, Painful To Touch. Taken Lasix. Difficulty Urinating. Suggestions?

Last Sunday My lower legs and feet were swollen along with pain to touch. When the feet were the same size as my legs I went to the hospital. ECG , Blood work and a chest exray was performed. I was released with a prescription for Lasix and to follow up with my doctor ASAP. The results were negative, but I still have a problem urinatiing. The legs and feet have gone down in size, but are still swollen. Last week I had one day without urinating for a complete day. Now I do not have control of the flow when trying, but I will empty most of the urin slowly. My doctor is away and do you have any suggestions on further test i should undergo and what the problem could be. Paul R

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi and welcome to HCM
According to your description , pain and swelling over your legs seems to be inflammatory in nature.
I advice you to give you rest to the part affected, take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin 1 tablet with food as and when required (upto 4 tablets daily) to reduce pain and inflammation and consult your doctor for thorough examination of legs and rule out any infective cause.
Difficulty in urine could be due to infection. Get complete blood count and urine examination to reach the diagnosis.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care.
