Swollen Knee, No Pain, All Test Negative, Leg Discomfort

I went to the doctor the other day to get a prescription for chantix , but while I was there I told them my knee has been acting up lately. My right knee is swollen, jiggly but does not hurt but it feels like there is a small ball or giant pimple ready to burst directly above my kneecap. The only time there is any pain is if I fully bend it. Then it feels like there is a strap across the top of my knee that is ready to tear. I also told them that lately once a day or every other day I have a burning sensation when I urinate so they took some blood & urine to test for gonoreah, chlamydia , lyme s disease, and gout . All tests came back negative. This knee thing came about 3-4 weeks ago out of now where. No sports injury or any other kind of injury just appeared. I guess I first noticed it when I was on a road trip over a month ago my legs constantly felt like they were about to cramp but never did. Now only my right calf gets that feeling ONLY sometimes. I can run on it, bend it, stand on it, walk on it, all with no pain just pressure.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It sounds like you have an knee effusion or fluid in your knee joint. This could be for many reasons such as inflammation in the knee joint due to an arthritis or because of a meniscal tear ( the shock absorber in the knee). As it seems to be persisting you should in addition to your blood work have an Xray and possible an MRI scan with gadolinium.

Best wishes
