Swollen And Red Outer Eyelid. Grass Went Into Eye. Suggestions?
I outside yesterday and the wind blew either a piece of grass or a bug into my eye. I couldn't see anything but it was very uncomfortable. I tried flushing, using visene, and icing my eye. this morning my outer eyelid is a bit swollen and red. suggestions? I do not have health insurance so I don't want to visit the doctor unless absolutely necessary.
I am so sorry to hear about what you experienced yesterday.
From your symptoms, it is likely that the inflammation is caused by the irritation caused to the eye by all the maneuvers you tried to flush out the foreign body. If your sight is good and the pains not so severe, then you should get some ani-inflammatory medications to control the swelling.
I am confident it will go away all by itself. However, if it should aggravate or you start having a purulent discharge or a gradually deteriorating vision, then you may want to go in and see a doctor. But for now, stay calm.
