Swelling In Head, Nausea, Headache. History Of Fall And Hitting The Head Against Pavement. On Aleve. Possible Concussion?

Hi, I was pushed last week and slamed my head on the pavement on the right side of my head. When I went into my home which was right away. The swelling on the right side of my head looked like a baseball. I put ice on it for hours. I seemed okay the next day or so except it still was bruised and hurting but a lot better than it was, concerning the swelling. As time as been going on, I'd say less or almost a week. I'm starting to have nauseness and a slight headache. I have put a heating pad on my head which does make it feel better. The swelling has gone down a lot but it is still swollen. I have been taking aleve and that has been help a little. Also, I'm tired a lot, but still wake up even in the middle of the night. Do you think it's a concussion and how do I continue to take care of it?
Thank you very much for your help,
Charmaine

Hi there..

Thanks for writing in.

You did the right thing by applying ice immediately after the injury. The swelling might have reduced because of this.

For the headache, you can take a tylenol/paracetamol.

It might take another week or two for the swelling to reduce completely.

However if your headache or vomiting worsens or gets severe, please visit your doctor immediately.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
