Swelling In Arm With Slight Itching. History Of Being Bitten By Small Light Green Beetle Type Of Bug. Suggest

i was bitten by a bug of some sort bug, small light green beetle type thing, in the garden on Friday evening. It stung badly at the time and the hand then swelled up over night. i have been to Boots to get Piriton and a Hydrocortisone cream but the swelling has progressed now about 3 inches up the arm - what should I do? it's slightly itchy.

Based on the information it seem that unknown bug bit you and you took piriton which is an antihistaminic drug and also you applied hydrocortisone cream which is a steroid and helps to reduce the swelling, but you did see the swelling progression. You did cover the first response portion of the treatment on your own but the use of corticosteroid may increase the chances of infection.


Here is what I would advice you to do , I would like you to see local doctor and have him look, base on what you say that the itching is still progressing, along with the size gives rise to a suspicion of having it infected, and you may need some antibiotics.

Please do not use corticosteroids without taking advice for medical professional.
