Suggest Treatment For Sun Rashes, Swelling And Itching

i have developed a serious allergic reaction to the sun. over the last couple of years i have gotten serious rash with swelling and terrible itching. my doctor prescribed steriods for me, but this time it appears not to work as fast. i have tried everything for the itching and i can t sleep nights even after taking benedryl tablets. also, i am a brown skin african-american and i understand that this problem is rare for black people. i try to cover up as much as possible but minor exposure to the sun over the weekend caused me to have another outburst, and i usually get a few more outburst during the summer. how dangerous is this for me and will taking vitamin d&a all year round help me. i am 57 years old and have been a letter carrier for years. i was never affected when i carried mail but now i only carry 1 to 2 hrs of mail aday. what can i do that will prevent the onsits, it affects my job. i also live in the midwest area.

Hi,

Welcome to HCM..

It seems that probably you suffer from photosensitive allergic dermatitis. You consult the expert dermatologist for the perfect treatment.

I would suggest....

- protection from sunrays.. Physical and with sunscreen gel
- steroids on tappering dose
- hydroxychloroquin 200 mg tab daily
- antihistaminics
- mild steroid cream application
- avoid soap bath

I hope this would help you..

Thanks..
