Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Runny Nose

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I started with a sore throat, ehiched progressed into a runny nose and a stuffy nose. Overnight it continued with a fever and by the following night I developed a cough with a sinus headache and extreme fatigue. Four days later, all of which were taken care of with cold medicine that managed to teat everything but the cough and fatigue, I realize that I have not had a bowel movement. Under normal cercimstance I would pass it off as a cold or flu, but the extreme level of fatigue is to the point I am constantly sleeping unless I m taking my pills, and the constipation is not a normal symptom of my colds. Add on top of that diabetes, and it s even more concerning, because the constant sleeping (3 days now) is making it difficult to regulate my blood glucose level. There is no nausea, vomitting, or abdominal pain, even though o haven t had a bowel movement in 4 days. Any ideas?

Hi, I am Dr Mittal. I have read your query.I have a good idea what you may have been suffering from. I think I have the right answer to your problem.

I think the problem has started with the condition of viruses. The infection has left you weak. And the diet and exercise and medicine schedule has been affected causing the sugars to be very high and uncontrolled.

As for sleeping, it may be due to either the medicines that you are taking for the cold. Alternatively, deranged sugars may also cause the drowsiness.

As for constipation, this may be a part of the viral infection. Gastrointestinal symptoms are common to physicians who deal with the symptoms daily for the patients. Plenty of fluids should help you.

The best way to get relief is - Steam inhalation, warm gargles. And of course regulate the sugars as well . regulate the diet and your regular sugar medicines. And if possible, avoid the cold medicines.

I have tried to get the best results for your help. I will be glad to hear from you for any reason pertaining to the query.

Best of luck.
Dr Mittal.
