It is an abnormal tract found around the anus with its internal opening in the anal canal. It is due to an improperly drained abscess that your boy friend might have had. He needs to be examined by a surgeon and may be he needs a fistulogram to confirm the diagnosis, once it is diagnosed the fistula can be removed surgically. I hope I answered your query. Regards!
