Suggest Treatment For Painful Bartholin S Cyst In The Labia Majora

I have a bartholin cyst/ abscess. It s extremely painful and roughly the size of an egg. Will this rupture on its own? Or do I need to go to the er. I can t handle the pain much longer. But would rather my body do it itself instead of surgery if possible.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

If i get a patient some one like you to my clinic, i will recommend a surgical procedure.
it can not heal on it own at this size.

Bartholin cyst is a fluid filled cyst ,it is due to obstruction to the duct of gland and fluid keeps on accumulating in the cyst and will get infected and leads to pain and discomfort.

Labia and vulva are very rich in blood supply, there may be very high blood loss when you puncture it.

So the excision of the sac should be in a good equipped surgical unit.

You may need anesthesian some times.

Consult a good surgeon and get excision procedure.Make sure that entire along with duct has to be removed.Just puncturing and removal of fluid is not enough.By this you will get recurence.

It is advisable to send the fluid to the pathology to rule out the cause of the cyst.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Thank you.
