Suggest Treatment For Irregular Periods With Hypothyroidism
Hi Have had hypothyroidism since I was born. The last few years my periods have been irregular on and off. I take sythroid .075 and .088 one a day. Instead of always going back and forth another doctor suggested to take both .075 one day and .088 the following. continuing this! My periods began to be regular until after a short while it began to be iregualr again. Though this time I skipped 2 months and now I have had my period for almost all of April with no sign of stoppping, What could be the problem
Hello and thank you for asking! I have gone carefully through your concern. Untreated hypothyroidism can be the cause of irregular menstrual cycle, but in your case i think it is well controlled. If the thyroid hormones have been within the normal ranges lately (with the actual dose), the thyroid is excluded and another cause should be found. I would recommend a detailed clinical examination, pelvic ultrasound and hormonal exams as recommended after clinical examination by the physician.
