my mom 62, being hypothroid is on eltroxin for the last 10years... but she had recently lost 8 kgs of weight in 7-8 months as we somehow could not keep a track of her thyroid levels... Her tsh -- 0.04, T4 is 11.10, T3 is 1.04. her eltroxin dose is lowered to 75mcg from 100mcg. Hope it is treatable.. kindly advise
Hello, I can understand your concern regarding to your mother's health. The hormonal level you reported is suggestive for an over dosage of eltroxin. In these cases is very important to exclude other causes of the weight loss, before attributing it to the eltroxine dose. The body reaction to hyperthyroidism is individual, but usually in these levels, the thyroid hormones do not cause such a great weight loss. That is why i suggest to exclude other causes.
