Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.

I have read the query and according to the history narrated by you the pain is most likely due to a muscle spasm due to sudden heavy exercise without appropriate warmup, other causes of muscle cramps also are possible like dehydration, exercising when you are tired, sudden awkward position of the leg.

I suggest my patients following measures in such conditions:

1.Warm intermittent compressions of the affected part.

2.Avoid heavy exercise for some days instead due light stretching exercises to relieve spasm.

3.Application of volini gel will decrease the pain.

4.I suggest you to take a muscle relaxant like tab.myospaz forte once at bedtime for relieving the spasm along with a anti-inflammatory and analgesic tab.ibuprofen.

5.Pain will reduce gradually in 2-3 days,if it still persists consult an orthopaedician and ask his opinion about getting a X-ray done.

Hope this answers the query.

Feel free to ask any further questions.

Dr.Tushar Tamboli
