Suggest Treatment For Herpes 1

Doctors keep telling me I have herpes 1... Because I complained of a swollen ,lower lip, peeling, burning and a couple of small water blisters inside my mouth. I took valtex for 20 days with no relief. Now they want me to take acrovycir for 3 months. I hate to take medicine for so long when I actually never had a cold sore .

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain Herpes 1 is a viral infection caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and it presents as clusters of fluid filled blisters inside and outside the mouth/lips..
As it is a recurring infection and although can resolve within 2 weeks of eruption of the sores but can recur and even can persist due to repeated infections..
Therefore, inorder to reduce the frequency and duration of the infection you need to take a long course of antiviral medications, both oral as well as topical..
But my suggestion is to get a confirmation done for whether you are suffering from herpes or not and for this purpose you should get tests done like Viral culture, antigen antibody reaction etc.
Once it is confirmed you should start taking Acyclovir that is an effective and appropriate antiviral medicine for preventing the recurring eruptions of the herpes infection..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
