Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I thought I had a very large hernia, the size of a large canteloup. Recent CT scan shows no hernia, only asymetrical fatty stomach. How can this be? I try to sit-up and a huge round bulge pops out of my lower stomach, it s so disgusting! I look 1/2 prego. How do I get rid of this?
Noted the history and understood the concerns. It is always the clinical evaluation that confirms hernia by classical signs: first one is impulse on coughing that is when there is enlargement on coughing and second is reducibility that is on pushing the hernia goes back and at the same time it is necessary that there is a true sac with neck to say this to be a hernia. The bulge you are getting seems to be a condition called proptosis is is general bulge without any sac. Hence it is needed to have a proper examination by a General Surgeon and the findings of Ultrasonography or CT scan is just an additional information. Hence I would advise you to get examined by a General Surgeon so that a proper diagnosis and management can be done.
