Suggest Treatment For Fever

hi, my 2 y/o son had 101.9 temp last night & since then, I have been giving 160 mg of Tylenol Chewables. He s fever keeps coming every 4 hours when Tylenol wears off. He s allergic to ibuprofen. I have given 3 doses of Tylenol since 1 a.m. this morning. Are there any alternative fever reducer for a 2 y/o?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern and unfortunately, the best over the counter medications are only Paracetamol and Ibuprofen.

But Paracetamol can be given every 4 or 6th hourly if the temperature is more than a hundred degrees Fahrenheit.

I am sorry that your son is allergic to Ibuprofen but there is no other option except Paracetamol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
