Suggest Treatment For Fever

My 3 year old son had a temp of 101.4 on the night of the 29th, I gave him ibuprofen and in the morning his fever was gone. Since the 30th he has not had a bowel movement and he keeps grabbing his tummy saying it hurts. I am not sure what I need to do.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Fever and abdominal pain might suggest a viral fever, urine infection or early phase of gastroenteritis. Not having motion for 1-2 days is unlikely to cause abdominal pain by itself. If he is otherwise playful and feeding well, we need not worry. Just give him acetaminophen 3 times daily for 2-3 days to relieve pain. take him to doctor if pain persists, fever recurs, or fresh symptoms appear.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
