Hi, I am sorry to hear about him. From what you described, it seems that as a child he may have had an infection that affected the brain or the spinal cord (parts of the nervous system that control body movement) and caused paralysis. Usually, this requires intensive physical therapy to make sure the joints dont lose their mobility. If it has been several years, then it is likely that the muscles have decreased in size (called wasting or atrophy) and the joints have become stiff. If I was seeing him in clinic, I would say that there is no medicine to improve his paralysis but I would recommend physical therapy at least three times weekly to improve the strength in his muscles. Many government hospitals have a physical therapy department and if his parents (or caregivers) can learn the exercises then they can do it regularly at home.
