General Surgeon 's  Response
1) your son has bacterial infection in intestine which developed diarrhea
2) according to report infect might be minimal as there is no presence of blood (blood in stool with infection indicate, spread of infection to deep layer of intestine)
3) stool culture report is essential in duch condition as it will be helpful to decide course of antibiotics
4) he reduced food intake due to overall weakness and crampy pain associated with diarrhes
5) in such cases, he require to be hospitalized for aggresive treatment (IV fluid support) to maintain hydration which is core part of treatment for diarrhea. In addition he also require antibiotic injections for intestinal infection and some medication to reduce diarrhea (only in sever diarrhea, as such medicine decrease bowel movement also)
