Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Discomfort Below The Left Rib

I've been having a discomfort just below the base of the left rib. It feels like a air bubble and becomes more uncomfortable when sitting and occasionally I'll feel like my belly button is being pinched and pulled inwards. Also this may be unrelated but whenever I do a good amount of cardio like play badminton my stomach get cold and I will need to go to the bathroom usually diarrhea. I am a 28 year old male of chinese decent, 5'10" 187lbs, I have only recently been having the first problem for about the past 2-3 months. As for the second condition that has been happening for a few years now maybe 3 or so.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may be suffering from exercise induced diarrhea. An estimated 20% to 50% of distance runners have runner's trots, with a range of symptoms from cramping and nausea to bouts of flatulence and diarrhea during or after their workout.

Left rib pain may be due to gastritis or infection or food intolerance, etcetera. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.

Avoid spicy food, alcohol, smoking, and caffeine drinks. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Please consult your doctor who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
