Suggest Treatment For Constipation And Blood In Stools

I believe that I may be suffering from cronic constipation. I go days at a time without pooping and when I do it's nearly unbearable. I feel like razor blades are coming out of me. There is frequently blood in the stool also. The most recent problem was that I did not poop for a week and a day. I drink plently of fluids being active duty military and am active in physical training. I have also lost a large amount of weight for no apparent reason. I now weight 114 at a height of 5' 8.5". Do you have any advice?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

In most cases, causes of and bleeding through rectum is irritation of rectal mucosa due to hard soon and straining. Other causes are mostly benign and include hemorrhoids, anal fissure or rectal polyps. These are primarily treated with stool softener, diet and sitzbaths. If there is no improvement in next few weeks, then surgical management should be considered.
To treat constipation you should try first with changing lifestyle and dietary habits. You need to increase fiber intake. Good fiber sources include bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, Fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans. Also, you should exercise regularly. Moving your body will keep your bowels moving, too. Second, you may at times need to try a laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia, or glycerin suppositories. If there wont be improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing. In some cases it may be also sign of tumors so it should be ruled out if symptoms persist.
