Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain

Hello, i have recently recovered from a nasty bug that caused flu-like symptoms along with severe coughing that has left me with sore ribs and upper chest. The coughing has subsided although sometimes has its moments! It was always a dry cough but because mucous was constantly dripping down the throat i was coughing as if i had a chest infection. Can you advise me on ways of relieving the chest/rib pain as this is starting to bother me. i have been on antibiotics + medication to relieve coughing but these are now finished. i am male, 6ft, medium build.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are having musculoskeletal pain due to excessive coughing.
So follow these steps for better symptomatic relief.
1. Take antihistamine and anti inflammatory drugs for coughing.
2. Apply warm water pad on affected areas.
3. Take painkiller like ibuprofen.
4. Avoid movements causing pain.
5. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
6. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these in 1 week.
If not improving in 1 week then get done chest x ray to rule rule out pneumonia as a cause for your chest pain (pleuritic pain) and coughing.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
