Hi! I have gone through your question and I understand your concern .

I would say that you can use the Tynelol ( paracetamol ) but is not the specific choise for that.Dont use other painkillers such Ibulrofen , aspirin or others .
This kind of pain from hernia is often sometimes cause of acid reflux( GERD ) .And the painkillers such Ibuprofen all worsen the pain.

The acid from the stomach goes to the esophagus and damage the mucosa causing inflamacion and in the end patient exsperience pain like burning .
I would recommend to give an antihistaminH2 drug like ranitidine 150mg , cimeridine ,or famotidin to reduce the acute pain .Or Malox to have a quick reduce of the pain .
Also i will give you some advise for him : care about The diet , avoid heavy meals , advise him to eat often and small portions , avoid coffe , Alchohol , fatty food , spicey food , go to bad 3h after eating.

I recommend to go to the local doctor he will to a Endoscopy to see the size and condition of hernia and esophagus .According to the examination he will decide to give PPI drug ( Pantoprasole)to reduce the symptoms or decide for a surgery to repair the hernia .

Wish these help .
If you have any other questiona plese feel free to ask me .
