Suggest Treatment For A Large Knot Behind The Hip

My 80 yr old mother suffered a femural neck fracture couple years ago and had it repaired with three pins, as is standard. The fracture appears to have healed fine and the surgeon removed the pins. She has been complaining for a while about a large knot behind her hip on her pelvis. Can you tell me how the knot is related to the fracture and how she can get rid of it?

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Possible fibrosed area.
2. Will require biopsy for confirmation. I would not suspect any blood vessel now. Clinical examination essential.
3. Unless it is causing pain, not to worry. Fibrosis is known to occur after injury. Especially after severe injury, fibrosis will be big.
4. Meet your doctor for further opinion.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
