Suggest Treatment For IBS

I will try and be brief. Since birth, problems with digestion. Constipation, never been officially diagnosed with IBS but I seem to have the symptoms. Sensitive to vegetables, salads, hot sauce which cause gas, stomach gurgling. Recent symptoms of concern: Daily stomach bloating, 99% can't have a bowel movement without straining, pushing. Constant urge to have a BM, stomach gurgling. Gas. My stools range from short, cut off incomplete, soft, hard. Hard stools one minute, loose stools the next. At first, Lower right abdominal pain that is relieved temporarily with flatulence or bowel movement. Internal rectal pain. Now pain on both left and right. No visible blood in stool or on toilet paper. Stools brown not black.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
I can understand your concern for your symptoms.
1) Your symptoms are consistent with IBS.
2) You need further evaluation in form of upper GI endoscopy to check involvement of proximal part of small intestine and colonoscopy to check involvement of large intestine.
3) Digestion process will be affected in IBS and some person develop increased movement of small intestine which lead to loose stool and others develop constipation.
4) You must avoid foods which aggravates your symptoms and this vary from person to person. But generally gluten-rich diet must be avoided.
5) Use of intestinal digestive enzyme supplementation has some beneficial role in this condition. You should also consider to take stool softener or laxative in case of severe straining and constipation.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
