Suggest Remedy For Swollen Side Of Face Indicating Parotid Gland

I am a 65 yr. old female. 5'2", 190 lbs. (Short and fat but otherwise in good health.) While having dinner tonight, the side of my face in front of the ear, down to jaw swelled up very quickly, is hard, but not painful. PC search indicates parotid gland is in the area. Swelling is obvious to the eye. Should I apply hot or cold?

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain sudden swelling in the area infront of ear down the jaw at the time of eating dinner can be due to any foreign body obstruction the duct orifice of the parotid salivary gland or it can be due to stone formation in the duct of the gland which obstructs the saliva flow leading to backflow of saliva into the gland leading to expansion of gland and appears as swelling..
You should consult an Oral Physician or an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray or MRI of the gland can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now neither cool nor warm compresses needed..
