Hello,
You should determine a diagnosis before starting a prescription medication. Some possibilities include dry mouth from breathing through your mouth especially at night, oral yeast infection, or post nasal drip from sinus inflammation or allergies.
You may schedule a visit with your dentist to evaluate oral tissue or your physician. A simple swab could determine a diagnosis.
Take some Antiinflammatory medication such as Tylenol or Advil. Make sure you are well hydrated. Avoid irritants. Make sure you do not suffer from any vitamin deficiencies or excesses. Dehydrated tissue can be very uncomfortable and irritated by indoor climate control systems especially while sleeping.
There are other systemic possiblites that can affect your oral envoronment such as acid reflux or diabetes. Blood tests can help determine irregularities. Your dentist can check for infections in your mouth that could contribute to your symptoms as well. XRays can revel infections. Make sure that you are up to date on routine exams with your dentist and physician.
If you have a partially used ZPack from a recent infection, consider the possibility of a reoccurring or not fully treated infection. It is very important to follow prescription directions and finish your prescription. This affects the ability to fully treat an infection and eliminate the more resistant variations. You can not just take a few more with out following a full regimen. Perhaps you have a resistant infection and need a different prescription as well.
Thank you for your inquiry. I hope that you feel better soon.
