Suggest Remedy For Hard Cough With Metallic Taste In Mouth

I've had a croupy cough for about 6 weeks now with very little phlegm which is slightly yellowish upon waking up in the morning...the annoying part is a wheezing sound I hear when I'm laying down and upon exhaling it seems to be there after the exhaling stops...is this just a coughy-type of cold or could it be going into bronchitis and I should see my doctor. Also, when I cough, it's a hard cough with a sometimes metallic taste in my mouth.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain croupy cough along with yellowish phlegm and wheezing can be due to a number of causes like upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, lung infection, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease etc..
Metallic taste in mouth is also due to cough and infected phlegm.
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist or Pulmonologist and get evaluated and he can advise you sputum culture and also x ray of chest to rule out the exact cause of cough and metallic taste and treat accordingly..
He can advise you a course of antibiotics like Cephalexin or Levofloxacin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, mucolytics like Ambroxol, anti allergics like levocetrizine, steam inhalations and cough expectorants containing Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin..
Do warm compresses over chest, sip on warm water, avoid chilled foods and take rest..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
