Suggest Remedy For Vitiligo

I am having Vitiligo for the last 15 or 16 years. I have taken Homeopathic and Allopathic treatment with no difference. I had take Melanacyl tablet (one a day) for two years, but now I have stopped. I had taken some other allopathic medicine few months back and I started getting high fever and I discontinued. My patches are spreading. I am applying Bonza strong lotion and expose to the sun for 10 minutes or so. Please help and advice.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

You said you suffer from vitiligo for more than 15 years. You took homeo and allopathic treatment without response.I would like to say few things about vitiligo. Vitiligo is an autoimmune depigmenting skin disease of unknown cause. There may be genetic tendency. Trauma might precipitate the disease. The prognosis may be unpredictable. In some patients there may be repigmentation without treatment. In other, treatment may not improve the disease. However, one should take treatment with patience.

I usually treat my patients in following way..

- tab trimethoxsalen 25 mg in the morning
- tab levamesole 50 mg at night
- tab folic acid 5 mg at night
- tacrolimus oint 0.01% Oint to apply at night daily
- trimethoxsalen or psoralen containing cream or lotion may be applied on the patches followed by exposure to ultraviolet A rays or sun rays for 5 min. at noon

You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and treatment. Have treatment for long time with patience. You might get repigmentation in vitiliginous patches. I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
