Suggest Medication For Diverticulitis

My brother suffers from diverticulitis. He is being treated for this condition and being put in antibiotics sometimes for three months in a row and lately for a month. He is a tobacco chewer. Can this may cause or delay the healing of his problem? The doctor told him that he may have to go through surgery. He has had this condition for about two years now. Please let me know. Thanks

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, diverticulitis is surgical condition, if this is not being cured with conservative management then it may needs surgery, else it may not be due to tobacco chewing but of course it is not good for health, it is all the symptoms that matters as long as the surgery is concern, hope this information helps
