Hello, here are some helpful tips I provide to clients who wish to gain weight:
Eat at least five small meals and snacks each day.
Take a look at what you eat now and try to increase the portion size.
Eat 5-6 meals/snacks per day
Eat high calorie heart healthy foods like nut butters or nuts, raisens or other dried fruit
You may include high calorie milk shakes made with whole milk, frozen fruit, regular Greek Yogurt and honey.
Cheese is high calorie, 1 oz = 80-100 calories
Include avocados liberally, and put salad dressing on your greens

To gain weight you need to take in more calories than you burn. So, muscle strengthening would be better for weight gain than cardiovascular exercises.
