Suggest Diet For BP And Diabetic Patient

I did not realize this was online. I am mostly looking for a list of foods that are good choices, especially now that I know I have high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. Food that is normally common to grocery stores. Sorry I have to decline, as I do not have available funds at this time. Sorry and thank you

Since you are hypertensive and diabetic too, you must avoid the following foods:

1. Too much salt or salted foods like chips/salted nuts/salted biscuits/pickles/salt preserved food/packaged foods like canned soups/soup cubes etc.

2. Avoid refined foods like white flour or maida and products like bakery items such as cookies, cakes, cream rolls, noodles, pasta especially ones made out of white flour as it is low in fibre.

You can have whole wheat pasta/whole wheat bread/brown rice/ whole wheat flour chapati/ oats/oat bran/wheat bran etc.

Try to include leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek leaves, amaranth leaves, other vegetables in the form of raw salads like tomatoes, cucumber, onions etc.

Limit intake of fried foods and fried snacks. Instead you can have roasted snacks, sprouted green gram or whole bengal gram as addition to salads or as snacks.

Have more of whole pulses (with husk), beans like rajmah or kidney beans, chhole or chickpeas.

Instead of fruit juices which lack fibre have whole fruits like apples, pears, pineapple, plums and peaches.

Limit intake of fruits like banana, mango, litchi, chikoo or sapota, jackfruit and root vegetables like potato, colocasia or arvi (hindi).

Avoid dates, raisins, nuts and dried fruits like cashew nuts, pistachios and almonds as they can raise blood sugar to a considerable extent.

Eat foods even those which are good for diabetes in moderate amounts as there is no such food which is completely good or bad. So you need to control portion sizes as well to control blood sugar.
