Suggest Cause And Treatment For Hepatomegaly

hi, am nausheen , female, 25yrs, (170 cm ht., 86 kgms wt.)
an upper abdominal ultrasonography was performed on me yesterday (2nd september'11 ) , where it reported a single solitary mobile gall stone of size 9.8mm and hepatomegaly(16 cm)..
my gall stone was first discovered in february'11 after a stomach ache which had a dimension on 10 mm then...... i started with the medication "URSOCOL" which says it can prevent further enlargement of gall stone, as am a masters student and was not willing to undergo cholesystectomy then...
in may'11 i underwent another Ultrasonography and found d size of my gall stone as 11.6 mm, even after ursocol treatment my gall stone size had increased by 1.6 mm .
since june'11 i started with homoepathic medicine which claims that it may reduce and remove my gall stone in 18 months, am required to get my ultrasonography done every 3 months...
it was 3 months since i started with homoepathic medicine so i got a US done yesterday..
although the size was reduced by 2mm (from 11.6 mm to 9.8mm) but why this hepatomegaly?
what would u advice....

Hello and welcome.
Hepatomegaly is a liver enlargement and there are many causes of liver enlargement and treatment depends on exact cause. Galbladder stone as you say, may be cause of it but rarely. Fatty liver is more common and if this is caused by diet, obesity and diabetes then dietary and lifestyle changes will be beneficial in every case. Alcohol and viral hepatitis are next most common causes and in this case medical evaluation is required.
Also if there is infectious disease or biliary duct disorders then you need to do some tests to rule out more serious issues which require specific medical treatment. Stones in gallbladder will never disappear without surgical treatment so URSOCOL is just temporary option if you ask me.

WIsh you good health. Regards
