Suffering With Constipation, Stools Seem To Be Compressed, Feel Blockage At The Center Of Stomach. Test Results Normal. Actual Problem?
Hi, I have suffering from constipation from the last few months, and the main problem I am facing is that the stool is coming out as if it is compressed sideways, and not in the ususal cylindrical shape. I feel like some kind of blockage at the centre of my stomach , but no pain as such... My doctor recommended me ganaton total, but its not working.. and all the stool tests and endoscopy results came normal.. Can you please help me in finding out what may be the actual problem..?

Thanks for your query.
Your are apparently suffering from either, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation Subtype), Thyroid disorder; or, an obstruction in the colon (large intestine).
Please get the following investigations done:-
1. Thyroid hormonal levels (Free T3, Free T4 and TSH) for thyroid problem
2. Colonoscopy for excluding/confirming obstruction in the colon.
For chronic constipation, First take Liquid Paraffin or lactulose for 3-5 days. Once the bowel is absolutely clear, switch over to Psyllium husk twice daily. This will maintain your normal bowel habits. Also take plenty of water daily.
Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.
