I am suffering from typhoid fever since 30 days, the widal test showed typhi 0 and typhi H positive in 1:160 dilutions. the doctor prescribed zenoflux plus for 5 days. but after five days i was admitted to hospital because the fever did not decrease. I was given IV fluids with Inj. monocef 1gm in 100ml NS 1-0-1 for 3 days. after that they prescribed zifi 200mg for 7 days. but after 7 days the widal test shows typhi o and H positive in 1:160 dilutions. I dont know how to get cured by this fever.I feel tired all the time. please help me.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

There could be several causes for that fever. One cause could be that if it is typhoid it could be resistant to that antibiotic. Change of antibiotic may be required.
Another cause could be there could be another cause for that fever. (like malaria could be a cause) Further investigations may be required to confirm the diagnosis of fever.

Was a blood culture done to confirm that widal report?

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

For typhoid management you require atleast 14 days treatment with ciproflox or 10 days of zifi twice daily or monocef for 10 days. You have not taken full course of any of the treatment. I advice you to complete the course.

For diagnosing Typhoid the titer is required to increase, but in your case it is same. So there may be no active typhoid or you may be suffering from any other disease like malaria or UTI which may or may not occur along with typhoid and can complicate the management.

So you are required to conform the diagnosis of typhoid and look for any other disease also.

If you can upload all the investigations then we can discuss your management in better way.

Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further examination and management.
Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
