Suffering From Pain In Ear

Hi I have a six year old daughter who has bad left ear due to a build up of catarrah. I have seen a doctor and he suggested steaming and blowing nose. Is this all I can do as she is in a lot of pain.

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

She has to do steam inhalation 2-3 times/day, as well as, she can use saline nasal drops 2 drops 3-4times/day. Avoid blowing as much as possible. She can try anti-inflammatory drugs (such as Ibuprofen) if she has pain. It will take time to reduce as the inflammation around the ventilating tube has to subside.
