Suffer From Constipation, Bowel Movements Stopped. Did Colonic, Colonoscopy. Prescribed Miralex. Any Natural Treatment?

Yes, I have suffered from constipation since August of 2007! I have always eaten a healthy diet and lots of exercise. One day I just stopped eliminating and could not understand why. I got a colonic, colonoscopy, lots of the usual remedies--prunes, fluids, fresh fruits and vegetables, water,... Doctors just want to prescribe medications. My stomach is hard and protruded, so I do have to give in to some over the counter aids, but can not understand how a healthy body can suddenly stop functioning with no medical issues and not taking medications of any kind. Miralax and other drugs are the only answers I get from the medical profession--help please!

Constipation is usually seen in those who have decreased intestinal motility or those who do not take enough fibers in diet. If you are having enough fibers in your diet, you may try the following natural methods:

Avoid foods that contain white flour like, white sugar and other processed foods.
Eat light regular meals, and make sure you eat at least 3-4 hours before you go to bed.
Adding condiments like cumin and turmeric in your food while cooking it is a great way to help digestion.
Drink at least eight glasses of water every day. Make sure you have a glass of warm water every morning and before you go to bed.
