Stool Test Shows Many Yeast Present. History Of Having Diarrhea With Gurgles In Lower Abdomen Which Is Improving. Serious?

Hi. I had diarrhea for over 2 weeks, now slightly improving, along with gurgles in my lower abdomen. I had stool tests done as follows:
--culture: salmonella & shigella...none found
--clostridum difficile toxin A & B, EIA...not detected
--ova and parasitese, stool conc and perm smear...no ova or parasites; many yeast present

I feel fine and my diarrhea is improved. The "many yeast" scares me. Does it necessarily mean I've a serious problem?

Thank you.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Intestines are protected by "good" bacteria. This bacteria prevent from other bacteria and fungi to grow. In case of good bacteria destruction (antibiotics can do that), or insufficient amount of it, yeast takes its place. You may have abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, in case of yeast infection.
I suggest you to start probiotic supplementation and your intestines should get theirs balance back.

Hope this will help.
Regards
