Stiff, Swollen And Yellow Discolored Leg Due To Cut And Several Stitches. Unable To Bend And Move. Serious Problem?
I cut my leg directly below the knee 9 days ago, had 2 layers of 13 stitches. the cut goes across making a smile, missing the knee cap by 1 cm. it has been stiff ( hard crust of blood) and swollen all week, I cant bend leg at all and only move around with crutches, am spending the day sitting with leg up. Just now we noticed the lower area looks very yellow in contrast to my uninjured leg. Is this a problem? I am seeing the nurse tomorrow and having stitches out. thank you
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The stiffness and swollen leg with yellowish discoloration is suggestive of an edema in the area. There is a possibility of infection like cellulitis or a deep vein thrombosis. This needs a direct examination for proper diagnosis. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal drtayal72@gmail.com
