Sore Gum, Bleeding. Had Root Canal, Using Mouth Wash And Brushing Regularly. Should I Meet A Dentist?

Hi a week ago my gum became sore , where I'd had a root canal a few months previous , I have been using mouth wash & brushing regular as this area started bleeding , I have the dentist in a few days , but I've noticed my gum is receding quite quickly round said area , & the bleeding has got worse , is there anything else I should do ? Maybe go to dentist sooner as a emergency patient ?

hello Joanne
thanks for query & i am happy to help you
since your gum is receding and bleeding too may you are having periodontitis, so get scaling done by a dentist . also ask him to take an x ray for the tooth treated with root canal. i think you haven't gone for a crown yet in the the root canal treated tooth. my friend that is of great importance .consult your dentist for that. its good if you maintain proper oral hygiene. start warm saline rinses from now only. if its bleeding badly get your blood sugar and blood pressure also checked and also consult your general physician...
hope to see you in best of your health and spirits

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Cause of sore gums as well as bleeding has to be evaluated clinically initially by a dentist.

For temporary relief, apply anaesthetic gel on the affected site.

Maintain oral hygiene well.

Use soft interdental toothbrush as well as dental floss to clean your teeth.

Tooth has to be re-rc treated if necessary.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your clinical symptoms i suspect that you have developed periodontitis, go for complete mouth scaling and polishing.
Get an x-ray done of the affected area to look for any abnormality.
Use a soft bristle toothbrush.
Use lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.
If your root canal treated tooth is not capped go fro its capping.

Hope this helps out.

Regards...

hi...
thanks for the query...
have you got crown over the treated tooth..?? or any filling that is extending interdental area..???
if yes... then it can be the cause... and that is because of more of apical position of your crown or filling... which needs correction... or can be due to food lodgement requiring proper cleaning...
another reason can be due to deposition of plaque and calculus... in that case it requires scaling and root planing... and maintenance of proper oral hygiene after that by brushing twice daily after meals with soft toothbrush...
hope it will help you...
take care...
