Sometimes It Is Hard For Me To Breath I Have No Clue Why ?

sometimes it is hard for me to breath i have no clue why.? just at random times it is hard for me to breath. i can easily breath out but when i breath in its like the breath gets stuck halfway through. when this happens i am not doing any strenuous activity, usually am just sitting there. for a while have been trying to explain how it feels and i am stuck between the fact that it feels like when you have to yawn and are trying not to or trying not to hiccup the only thing i can find in common is that it just doesn t seem right and it really scares me then my breathing gets worse. oh yeah forgot to mention that my heart starts beating really fast and it doesn t seem normal i am not old, in fact i am only 13 almost 14 soo this can not be an old age problem please help my doctor dosent know what it is because he is never present when i have an attack thanks very much in advance :)

I think you are having anxiety because if you asked your doctor about it, I am sure he checked your heart and lungs. You don't seem to be having panic attacks but you do seem to be having episodes of anxiety, which seems especially evidenced by the fact that they get worse when you become scared by them. You are probably carrying a lot of stress and worrying, at least unconsciously. I would keep a record of when it happens. Anxiety can be "triggered" by anything, even a certain smell or music (or whatever) that is associated with whatever you are feeling stressed about. When it happens try breathing in very slowly through your nose. That may help you catch your breath. Also try to fill up your belly with air, not just your chest. If this helps, you can be pretty sure it is anxiety. Perhaps it would be in your best interest to consult a therapist to find out why you are anxious if you decide that's what the problem is.

Lucja, I have gone through something similar to what you are going through.  It's been years ago but I had something bad happen to me. (Grandfather died of a heart attack and I found him not long after he'd passed.) I was very close to him and his passing hurt very much.  I was told by my parents that  both sides of my family, (Mom and pop's) have a high deathrate due to heart attacks. I smoked cigaretts at the time and my parents tried to scare me into quitting by telling me I was going to die of a heart attack some day. Guess what happened? I started getting these occassional bouts where I thought I was having a heart attack. It would scare me and make my heart race thereby only further making me think I was having a heart attack. Also, I would get these strange feelings like I needed to run. Like I was scared of something. But I didn't have anything scaring me at the time. The feeling to run would just come and go from time to time. In the end it was anxiety brought on by the stress of my life. I was able to get past it on my own without a therapist but it wasn't a conventional nor recomendable thing that I did. Over the years since then I have found that stress can do strange and frightnening things to the body. If you haven't seen someone about these attacks you are having then I highly urge you to do so. I'm not saying these attacks are going to kill you but I DO remember the fear I was in when I had them and I feel for you. I was in my twenties when I had these attacks and you are much younger than I was. Really though, you have something eating on your subconcious that is causing these attacks. You might not even be aware that something is bothering you. So again, please seek the aid of someone qualified to help you deal with this problem. I wish you only the best.

i have this problem too. im also really young, 15. i went to see a doctor and i too was told it was stress and they put me on some medication to help, but it didnt do much. but i started to notice a pattern. you cant sleep because you cant breith right? so in the morning you drinking caffine. and then you still cant breith. the pattern i noticed is that i have difficulty breithing after drinking caffine. turns out some peoples resperatory systems dont work very well when you drink caffine. maybe your problem is stress, or maybe its just caffine. try cutting the caffine out of your diet and see what happens. it worked for me, maybe it will work for you !
