Small Reddish Itchy Rashes On Genital Area. Some Big Rashes Look Like Boil With Little Pus. History Of Having Sex. STD?
I discovered very small reddish rashes on my genital area a few days after I had sex with my partner. There weren't itchy and were barely visible. It's been two monthss now and they are still there and haven't spread but it got itchy some days ago and one had become big and looks like a boil with little puss. My fear is I might have picked up something from my partner. Please what kind of infection can this be and can it be treated with antibiotics?
Hi, Welcome and thanks for posting your query to HCM. Afer reading your query there are two possibilities: 1."folliculitis" of the genital area: Appears due to inflammation of hair gland of the region leading to reddish bumps which can get enlarged and become painful/ itchy. This is due to heat, humidity or certain factors related to hygiene. It is not an STD. 2. Mollucum contagiosum: Appears due to viral infection characterized by small pearl like beads and when fuly formed have central indentation. It is a sexually transmitted disease. You can compare and follow the things accordingly and can go to the dermatologist for the best of diagnosis. Kindly do not scratch or pop up any these as can lead to further infection in both the conditions. Wish you good health. Dr Sanjay K Kanodia MD( Dermatology & STD)
